In the area: Cody, Wyoming is located at the base of the Rocky Mountains in the northwest corner of the state. Cody is a small city in the winter but doubles in size as summer comes. People from all over the world travel to Cody because it is one of the gateways to Yellowstone National Park. Yellowstone is America's 1st national park and is home to Old Faithful geyser, the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone, numerous geysers and hot springs, majestic mountain scenery along with much wildlife including buffalo, elk, deer, mountain sheep, and grizzly bear to name a few. The town of Cody was founded by Buffalo Bill Cody, a famous frontiersman, army scout, buffalo hunter, and showman. Cody is rich in the history of the wild west. Every night during the summer we have the Cody Night Rodeo in which cowboys and cowgirls try their luck at bronc riding, steer wrestling, calf roping, barrel racing, and bull riding. Along with the rodeo, Cody is home to one of the most celebrated museums of our western heritage in the United States. The Buffalo Bill Center of the West is home to paintings and sculptures, Native American Heritage, an enormous firearms collection, nature and wildlife exhibit and one section dedicated to Buffalo Bill himself. Our Dairy Queen store where you will be working has been serving people for 70 years and is considered one of the go-to places in Cody for food and especially ice cream. Locals and tourists from all over this country and the world come here to be treated to our food and desserts. Many young people from other countries travel to Cody to work here every summer. Because of the influx of tourists here during the summer, many people are needed to work in the lodging and restaurant industry. We have housed and employed J1 visa students for the past 3 summers and each student has reported they loved the experience.
Provided by Host: Buffalo Bill center of the West Museum is a world-class museum that introduces the Native American Culture and a variety of Western American displays and education. Other American students will work alongside our J1 students. Often friendships are made, leading our younger employees to socialize with our foreign students. The Cody Night Rodeo is an event that will be offered throughout the summer. We will bring our foreign students to at least one night to watch the rodeo. We will also offer a tour into Yellowstone National park which is the oldest National park in the United States. We also have an evening at a western musical show that the students along with many staff attend together. This event includes dinner as well as a western music show.
