Position description: Ice Cream Sellers are responsible for interacting with customers, using ice cream machines to make customer orders, scooping ice cream, learning menu items, setup and cleanup of work space, and exchanging money with customers. Your employer may ask you to perform other duties related to your job type.

Additional description: As a team member you will be required to learn food prep.​Team members will: Take orders, work the register, scoop ice cream and make milkshakes, etc., follow recipes to prep food and bake desserts, clean inside and outside, & do dishes. Employees may be asked to perform additional job assignments within the property, as needed. Other duties may be assigned. If proficient, team members may learn how to make ice cream & decorate cakes.​ We spend a lot of time with hands-on training and if you're willing to learn, you will be able to do your position. Hours fluctuate throughout the season. We guarantee our program participants receive an average of at least 32 hours per week. Most who want to work 40 hours & overtime.

In the area: I listed a bunch above, but I can expand on them: Long Beach Island has 18 miles of beaches, 3 museums, a historic seaport & lighthouse, both federally & state protected nature preserves, an amusement park, & a water park. Just outside the island is the Pine Barrens - one of the oldest & largest protected ecosystems in the world, which offers hiking, kayaking/canoeing, camping, & other recreational activities. Long Beach Island is a short bus ride from Philadelphia (1 hr.), New York City (2 hrs.), Boston (5 hours), & Washington D.C. (5 hours). All are accessible for either day trips or 2-3 day excursions when schedules can accommodate. We've even had program participants fly to Disney in Florida on their days off, which is fairly affordable & quick on local budget airlines. Program participants also have the opportunity to experience American culture while working for The WooHoo at local festivals & catering events The WooHoo takes part in. These can be excellent opportunities to experience American culture. As I said above, we have arranged outings & excursions in the past, but we've found that participants usually prefer to arrange their own outings once they befriend their colleagues.

Provided by Host: Long Beach Island provides many cultural opportunities, including nature preserves, museums, amusement parks, & entertainment/nightlife. In the past, we have also arranged meals & outings with program participants to share cultural experiences. Often, program participants befriend local Team Members closer to their age & arrange outings together. Participants & local Team Members have travelled together, gone hiking together, arranged parties together, & gone out locally together. We've found that participants prefer engaging with Team Members closer to their age rather than attending outings organized by us.
